  • Full vent about lame family

I should have known that this wasn’t going to work out. The first thing they told me at the interview was that they had actually already hired someone else, but they were interested in me coming on Fridays from 12-3. Okay…

Then, they said that they didn’t want me to come until, not the Friday after this one, but the one after that. Well it was a Thursday. So I said “The Friday after Friday the 13th or Friday Nov 13th?”.

    “The one after.”

Okay, that’s strange. You don’t want me to show up until the Friday before Thanksgiving… three weeks from tomorrow… Weird, but whatever, they’re also planning on paying me $90 for it, so hey, whatever you want.

So I wait… and wait… and finally the day comes. Well, three weeks is a long time to forget, so I call them.

“Oh, we expected you three weeks ago, so when you didn’t arrive, we figured you didn’t want the job. Sorry, there must have been a miscommunication.”

“Huh, yeah, that’s strange, cause I did come over, about three weeks ago, but it was for an interview…”

    “yeah, I remember that…”

“And I asked you specifically if it was the Friday after Friday the 13th, & I wrote it down in my date book right then and there…”

“Hmm, well we didn’t write a bad review or anything, we just thought there may have been a miscommunication… well I’m sorry about that…”

So, you admit that you even thought there may have been a miscommunication, but at no point did it dawn on you to call me, or email me, or contact me in any way shape or form. You just assumed that I didn’t want to take your $30 an hr job and I didn’t contact you or anything. You never called my references and checked me out before having me spend intimate time alone with your kids, and therefor never learned that I always call when I’m going to be late or miss a day. No, you just thought “hmm… that’s odd. Wasn’t she supposed to come today? Guess she changed her mind. I’ll have to rip up that $90 check I didn’t bother writing out anyhow…”

Yeah, that’s what I thought. After all, you’ve already hired a teacher to come to your house and home school your kids, so why would you want to hire a girl with no teaching experience at all to come to your home for 3hrs a week to tutor them. You didn’t, you never did. But if you say “Oh come three weeks from tomorrow.”, then it’s far away enough that you can stall until you come up with a way to get rid of her, instead of just admitting that you’re totally unorganized, forgot that you had told me to come over for an interview, hired someone else, then felt too embarrassed to tell me to forget about it, or just never paid any attention what-so-ever to what day you told me to come over, didn’t write it down, or even think about what day I was writing down, and were too unorganized to realize I didn’t come, decided you were too busy to contact me, and if I did contact you, you’d just tell me you thought I was coming another day, and figured I wasn’t interested.

Because that way, you’re not responsible for your own laziness and disorganization at all, right?

    UGH! So. Fucking. Stupid.
